President Donald Trump continued taking a victory lap after the White House Correspondents Association president said she regretted the remarks made by Michelle Wolf at the org’s annual dinner causing Twitter to melt down Saturday night.

A few hours earlier Trump had tweeted that “The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was a failure last year, but this year was an embarrassment to everyone associated with it. The filthy “comedian” totally bombed (couldn’t even deliver her lines – much like the Seth Meyers weak performance). Put Dinner to rest, or start over!”

Wolf has taken a lot of heat from some quarters, over her 15-minute-ish performance, in which she roasted White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who was playing Trump’s surrogate on stage. Trump bailed on the dinner for a second year, staging a rally in Michigan on same night.

“The White House Correspondents Dinner is DEAD as we know it,” Trump crowed. “This was a total disaster and an embarrassment to our great Country and all that is stands for. FAKE NEWS is alive and well and beautifully represented on Saturday night!”

Trump apparently is still stewing over the year Meyers and then President Obama mocked Trump, who was in the audience, for heading the birther movement, claiming Obama was not eligible to be POTUS, having not been born in the United States. During both men’s Trump roasts, the then Celebrity Apprentice host sat stonily in the ballroom crowd.
