Directed by Emmy-winning Kenny Ortega, Descendants 3 is the third movie in a trilogy about the teenage sons and daughters most infamous villains. It’s set to begin production next month for a 2019 premiere.
Jeffery originated the fan-favorite role of Audrey, the daughter of Princess Aurora, in 2015’s Descendants. The character is referenced in last year’s sequel, although she does not appear.
Doherty and Playfair return to reprise their roles as Harry and Gil, each members of Uma’s pirate crew in Descendants 3, joining Dove Cameron as Mal, Cameron Boyce as Carlos, Sofia Carson as Evie, Booboo Stewart as Jay, Mitchell Hope as King Ben and China Anne McClain as Uma.
Sara Parriott and Josann McGibbon who penned the screenplays for the first two Descendants movies, are back as writers for Descendants 3. They executive produce with Ortega (Descendants 1 and 2, High School Musical trilogy) and Wendy Japhet (Descendants 1 and 2, An Education). Kara Saun (Descendants 1 and 2, Project Runway) is the costume designer. Mark Hofeling (Descendants 1 and 2, High School Musical, Zombies) is the production designer. Shawn Williamson (Descendants 2, Adventures in Babysitting) is the producer. Jamal Sims (Step Up, Hannah Montana: The Movie) joins Ortega as choreographer.
Descendants (2015) and Descendants 2 (2017) were each the #1 cable movie for the respective years among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, and both rank among Disney Channel’s Top 10 original movies of all time. Descendants 2 was the highest-rated telecast across all cable television among Kids 6-11 since the first movie, according to the network and Nielsen.
Following her breakout role in Descendants, Jeffery went on to star in NBC drama Shades of Blue, Fox’s Wayward Pines, the direct-to DVD movie Daphne and Velma and The CW Network’s pilot Charmed.
