UPDATED, 2:30 PM: 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool 2 is breaking more advance-ticket sales records. Fandango now is reporting that Deadpool 2 is already pacing to be the top R-rated preseller in its 18-year history, outstripping 2015’s Fifty Shades of Grey. That’s big, considering that Fandango covers sales for more than 30K screens across the country.

In its first 24 hours since presales were announced on Fandango, Deadpool 2 also ranks as third-best advance-ticket seller of 2018 after Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther.
“Thanks in part to Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld’s exclusive FanShop poster offer with tickets, fans flocked to Fandango to reserve their seats as soon as tickets were available,” observes Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis.
In collaboration with celebrated cover artist Mike Capprotti, Liefeld’s exclusive poster-with-ticket-purchase rec-reates his cover image for New Mutants #98, in which Deadpool made his very first appearance in 1991. In this exclusive poster, Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) is joined with Domino (Zazie Beetz), Cable (Josh Brolin) and Collossus (Stefan Kapicic).
In a recent Fandango survey of over 4,500 moviegoers, Deadpool 2 was the second-most anticipated summer blockbuster of 2018. Reynolds topped the list of the most anticipated summer movie stars, while Beetz’s portrayal of Domino came in as the most anticipated breakout female performance.

PREVIOUSLY: Deadpool 2 Advance tickets sales record for Regal This is the first we’re hearing about Deadpool 2 advance ticket sales and in their first 24-hours they’ve broken records for CineWorld’s Regal Cinemas. Within 4 hours of going on sale, Deadpool 2 had already doubled the previous 24-hour bench mark that Regal had. Also the Marvel sequel broke the record for the previous R-rated movie sold on Regal’s website, New Line’s It.
We’re hearing that advance sales are huge overall with Cinemark even besting Regal’s sales by at least 50%.
“We are on the edge of our seats to see what Ryan Reynolds and his team have planned for Deadpool 2. With the 24-hour advance ticket record shattered, moviegoers seem just as excited as we are to see our favorite anti-hero back on the big screen.” said Ken Thewes, Chief Marketing Officer at Regal. “With tickets now on sale, we will continue to add seats to accommodate the demand.”
Select Regal locations will offer an action-packed double feature, with back-to-back screenings of Deadpool and Deadpool 2.
Deadpool 2 from 20th Century Fox opens on May 18. It is the second event movie of the summer in the wake of Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War which opens next Friday.
