EXCLUSIVE: Adam Sandler has been set to star this fall in Uncut Gems, the next film by directors Josh & Benny Safdie, for A24. The plot has been kept under wraps, and the script was written by the Safdies and Ronald Bronstein. Pic is produced by Scott Rudin & Eli Bush through Scott Rudin Produtions and Elara Pictures’ Sebastian Bear-McClard & Oscar Boyson. Rudin & Bush team frequently with A24 — most recently on Lady Bird — and the Safdies just worked with the distributor on the edgy Robert Pattinson-starrer Good Time.
Sandler last starred in the Noah Baumbach-directed The Meyerowitz Stories, with The Week Of coming next under his multi-pic deal at Netflix. Sandler next stars with Jennifer Aniston in Murder Mystery for Netflix.
Martin Scorsese & Emma Tillinger Koskoff are the executive producers on Uncut Gems. WME and Brillstein Entertainment Group rep Sandler and WME and Untitled rep the Safdies.
