EXCLUSIVE: Darby Stanchfield, who recently wrapped the seventh and final season of ABC’s Scandal, has signed on for with indie film Justine, along with newcomer Daisy Prescott, who has been cast as the title character. The pic hails from first-time director Stephanie Turner, who also wrote and will star in the drama.
The film follows Lisa Wade (Turner), a single mom who is forced to move in with her father-in-law after the death of her husband. She takes a job as a caretaker to Justine, a young girl with Spina Bifida, in what turns out to be a racist household. At first an unlikely pair, the two become friends and ultimately help one another grow and change.
Stanchfield will play Alison Green, the refined, pretty, uptight mother of Justine.
Robert Luketic (Legally Blonde) and Angie Edgar are producing the project with Football Brat Productions. Glynn Turman also co-stars in the film and is serving as exec producer.
Stanchfield is repped by Principal Entertainment LA and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman. Prescott is repped by The Osbrink Agency and Artistic Endeavors
