French director Pierre Morel, who directed Liam Neeson’s first Taken installment and most recently the Jennifer Garner-led thriller Peppermint, has been tapped to helm sci-fi thriller The New Mrs. Keller for Lakeshore Entertainment. Danish actor Claes Bang, star of the Oscar-nominated film The Square, is attached as the male lead in the film, which was written by newcomer Mark Hogan.
The logline: Set in the near future, smart, beautiful and sophisticated, Vera Keller is far more than she seems as she ensnares her husband, prominent surgeon Dr. David Keller, in a tense deception. Virtual reality intertwines with reality as David’s world unravels.
The pic marks a continued collaboration with Lakeshore and Morel, who is currently in post-production on Lakeshore and STX’s, Peppermint, out September 7.
Lakeshore, who acquired the spec script for The New Mrs. Keller late last year in a bidding war, will be presenting the project to buyers at upcoming Cannes Film Festival.
Morel, whose directorial credits also include The Gunman starring Sean Penn and Idris Elba, is repped by UTA and Sentient Entertainment.
Bang, who will next be seen in Sony/MGM’s The Girl in the Spider’s Web, starring Claire Foy, is a client of Felix Bloch Erben, and Agentur und Management, UTA, and Sharkey & Co.
Hogan is repped by Gersh and Kaplan/Perrone.
