Steven Spielberg made it official today that Colin Trevorrow is coming back to the Jurassic World franchise, directing the third installment.
Trevorrow was responsible for rebooting the Amblin 1990s’ movie Jurassic Park with 2015’s Jurassic World making it the fourth-highest grossing title of all-time with $1.67 billion at the global B.O. The filmmaker last year departed his directing duties on Star Wars: Episode IX which J.J. Abrams took over.
Trevorrow is a writer and producer on the sequel Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom due out on June 22 and helmed by J.A. Bayona. He’s repped by Verve and attorney Lev Ginsburg.
As previously announced, Jurassic World 3 is scheduled to open on June 11, 2021. Trevorrow is also EP and writing with Emily Carmichael. Spielberg is EP with Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley producing.
