Directed by Pierre Morel (Taken, The Gunman), Peppermint tells the story of young mother Riley North (Garner) who awakens from a coma after her husband and daughter are killed in a brutal attack on the family. When the system frustratingly shields the murderers from justice, Riley sets out to transform herself from citizen to urban guerilla. Channeling her frustration into personal motivation, she spends years in hiding honing her mind, body and spirit to become an unstoppable force – eluding the underworld, the LAPD and the FBI – as she methodically delivers her personal brand of justice.
Peppermint is written by Chad St. John, and produced by Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi, Eric Reid and Richard Wright, with Renee Tab and Christopher Tuffin serving as EPs. John Ortiz, Juan Pablo Raba, John Gallagher Jr., Annie Ilonzeh and Richard Cabral round out the cast.
Peppermint is opening on the same weekend as New Line/Warner Bros.’ The Nun. STXfilms is making a name for itself with female-led features having released the Bad Moms franchise and the Oscar-nominated Molly’s Game, with I Feel Pretty (April 20), Adrift (June 1), The Happytime Murders (Aug. 17) and Second Act (Nov. 21) on this year’s slate.
