Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Without A Trace), Brooke Bloom (Gypsy), Ayden Mayeri (New Girl) and Jacob Pitts (The Sinner) have been cast in recurring roles opposite Julia Roberts, Bobby Cannavale and Stephan James in Homecoming, the half-hour drama from Universal Cable Productions, Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail and Anonymous Content, which has a two-season straight-to-series order at Amazon. In addition, Fran Kranz (Major Crimes) is set for a guest role.
Based on Gimlet Media’s breakout fictional podcast, Homecoming is written by the podcast’s creators Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg and directed by Esmail. It is a psychological thriller that centers on Heidi (Roberts), a caseworker at a secret government facility, and a soldier (James) eager to rejoin civilian life.

Jean-Baptiste will play Gloria, Walter Cruz’s (James) mother, who is anti-military, anti-government, anti-everything and grows suspicious about what may be happening with Walter at the facility. Bloom will portray Pam, Carrasco’s (Whigham) boss at the Department of Defense. She’s ambitious but weary; mostly she just wants the minimum amount of trouble. Mayeri will play Reina, the receptionist at the Homecoming Facility. Pitts will portray AJ, who is exploring several new business ventures. Kranz will guest star as Ron, Colin’s (Cannavale) boss at Geist Emergent (Homecoming’s parent company).
Jean-Baptiste received Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA Award nominations for her feature-film debut role in Mike Leigh’s Secrets and Lies. She recently wrapped production on Peter Strickland’s feature film In Fabric and can currently be seen in the Sony live-action/animated film Peter Rabbit. She’s repped by APA and Untitled Entertainment.
Bloom is coming off a series regular stint on Netflix’s Gypsy opposite Naomi Watts. This past fall, she made her Broadway debut as one of the leads in Time and the Conways opposite Elizabeth McGovern. Later this year, Bloom will be seen in a supporting role in Noah Baumbach’s yet to be titled next film. She’s repped by TalentWorks and One Entertainment.
Mayeri, co-creator of the comedic web-series Harder Than It Looks, will appear in Netflix’s upcoming Untitled Noah Baumbach Project and Craig Johnson’s Alex Strangelove. Her TV credits include Downward Dog, New Girl and Awkward, among others. Mayeri is repped by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
Pitts, known for his role as Tim Gutterson on all seven seasons of Justified, was recently seen in major recurring roles on The Sinner and Sneaky Pete. Additionally he was part of the Emmy-winning cast of HBO’s miniseries The Pacific. He’s repped by Buchwald and MJ Management.
Kranz most recently starred in the world premiere of Illyria, written and directed by Richard Nelson, at the Public Theater. Kranz also co-stars in the upcoming Mary Pickford biopic Why Not Choose Love: A Mary Pickford Manifesto. He’ll next be seen on TV in a recurring role on Ballers. He’s repped by Berwick & Kovacik.
