The broadcaster has ordered Meghan Markle: An American Princess from British production company Spun Gold, which specializes in royal documentaries including The Royal House of Windsor, The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration and When Ant & Dec Met The Prince. The British indie is producing in association with Sky-backed U.S./UK firm Znak & Co.
The doc will air on May 11 ahead of the Royal wedding, which will take place at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on May 19. It will feature interviews with the likes of Markle’s half-sister, journalist and friend of Donald Trump Piers Morgan and Paul Burrell, who was previously butler to Princess Diana and her sons. It was commissioned by Brit Rob Wade, who is president of alternative entertainment and specials at Fox and is exec produced by Bridget Boseley, Eamon Hardy and Natalka Znak. Fox Networks Group Content Distribution holds international rights.
