Amber Riley has come aboard Tyler Perry’s written/directed drama, The List, which follows a woman who gets released from prison and reunited with her sister, who is forced to accept that she might be getting “catfished” by an online boyfriend. The Paramount Players film stars Tiffany Haddish, Tika Sumpter, Omari Hardwick, and Whoopi Goldberg. Perry is producing the pic, slated for release November 2. Riley spent six seasons as Mercedes Jones on Fox’s musical series Glee and appeared in NBC’s holiday production of The Wiz Live! She recently wrapped a year-long run and her West End debut in the revival production of Dreamgirls in the role of Effie White, which earned her the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress. Riley is repped by CAA.
Actor Richard Gunn (Hemlock Grove) has come aboard the indie drama, Clemency, joining previously announced Alfre Woodard, Aldis Hodge, and Richard Schiff. From writer/director Chinonye Chukwu, the story centers on a prison warden, Bernadine (Woodard), who confronts her own psychological demons as she develops an emotional connection to the death row inmate (Hodge) she is scheduled to execute. Gunn will play Deputy Warden Thomas Morgan, Bernardine’s rigid second in command. Producers are Bronwyn Cornelius and Julian Cautherley. Gunn is repped by Crimson Media, Global Artists, and Untitled.
