EXCLUSIVE: Willa Fitzgerald, who starred on MTV’s Scream offshoot, is in talks to co-star opposite Ansel Elgort and Sarah Paulson in the John Crowley-directed film adaptation of The Goldfinch, based on Donna Tartt’s Pulitzer-winning novel.
Peter Straughan wrote the screenplay, which centers around Theodore Decker (Elgort) who, after surviving a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art that kills his mother, is taken in by a wealthy Upper East Side family. Fitzgerald is looking to take on the role of Kitsey Barbour, who is engaged to Theo though the two are not completely honest with each other.
Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force Productions are producing the pic, with Amazon Studios co-financing. Warner Bros will distribute October 11, 2019.
Fitzgerald was recently tapped as the lead of E!’s hourlong dark comedy pilot, #Fashionvictim, and will play Meg in BBC’s upcoming limited series Little Women. She is repped by Principato-Young Entertainment and Paradigm.
