Empire’s fall finale (1.9 demo rating, 5.95M viewers) led Wednesday night in 18-49, catapulting Fox to a win. That said, the season wrapper marked a 30% drop compared to year ago’s 2.7 demo rating.
After Empire wrapped for the fall, Star (1.3, 4.16M) tipped up from its previous four originals’ 1.2 demo ratings.
CBS’s Survivor (1.7, 8.67M) topped the night in total viewers, despite a drop from previous week’s 8.96M; it also dipped a tenth in the demo.
Three ABC’s shows improved, week to week, by a tenth demo-wise: 8 PM’s The Goldbergs (1.6, 6.10M), 9:30’s American Housewife (1.3, 4.82M) and 10 PM’s Designated Survivor (0.8, 4.39M).
The rest of ABC’s lineup finished flat week to week. Even so, Modern Family (1.7, 5.911M) topped 9 PM in both metrics, after which Housewife (1.3, 4.824M) shared the demo title with the second half-hour of Fox’s Star (1.3, 4.16M).
NBC’s Golden Globe 75th Anniversary Special (0.8, 4.39M) topped 10 PM in both metrics.
CBS (1.0, 5.80M) took the night in total viewers, and Fox (1.6, 5.05M) won in the demo. ABC (1.2, 5.03M) followed, then NBC (0.8, 4.2M). Tne CW’s (0.4, 1.07M) two Wednesday regular programs – Riverdale (0.5, 1.42M) and Dynasty (0.2, 721K) — were flat week to week.
