ABC has pulled freshman drama series Time After Time from its schedule after five low-rated episodes. The Kevin Williamson time-travel drama will be replaced by Match Game on Sunday nights for now, ABC announced Wednesday.
The move effectively cancels the new series. There are no plans at the present time to air the remaining episodes. Time After Time has been a poor ratings performer, averaging just 2.2 million weekly viewers and a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating in Live+same day.
Based on the novel by Karl Alexander and the movie, Time After Time delivered a fantastical cat and mouse adventure through time when famed science fiction writer H.G. Wells is transported to modern day Manhattan in pursuit of Jack the Ripper. Once H.G. arrives in New York City, he finds a world he never thought possible and a young woman who captivates him. Williamson was the writer/exec producer.
The series starred Freddie Stroma as H.G. Wells, Josh Bowman as John Stevenson/Jack the Ripper, Genesis Rodriguez as Jane and Nicole Ari Parker as Vanessa Anders. Time After Time hailed from Outerbanks Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television.
