CBS has put in development a reboot of the classic sitcom The Honeymooners.
The multi-camera comedy will be written and executive produced by Muppets alum Bob Kushell.
The original series, starring Jackie Gleason as Ralph Kramden, Audrey Meadows as Alice, Art Carney as Ed and Joyce Randolph as Trixie, aired from 1955-56 on CBS. The new iteration focuses on two couples, best friends and neighbors, who contend with a new dynamic when one couple remarries after divorcing four years earlier.
Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly executive produce via their CBS TV Studios-based Timberman/Beverly Productions, along with Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, who also executive produce CBS’ reboot of another classic sitcom The Odd Couple. Jeff Greenstein (Mom, Will & Grace) also executive produces. CBS TV Studios is the studio.
