The Klingons are set. Chris Obi and Mary Chieffo have signed on for key roles in Star Trek: Discovery, the upcoming new Star Trek series for CBS All Access, CBS’ live streaming and VOD service.
Obi will play T’Kuvma, the Klingon leader seeking to unite the Klingon houses. Chieffo will portray L’Rell, the Battle Deck Commander of the Klingon ship.
They join previously announced Star Trek: Discovery cast members Shazad Latif as Kol, the Commanding Officer of the Klingons and protégé of T’Kuvma; Doug Jones as Lt. Saru, a Starfleet Science Officer; Anthony Rapp as Lt. Stamets, an astromycologist, or fungus expert, and Starfleet Science Officer; and Michelle Yeoh as Starfleet captain Georgiou.
Star Trek: Discovery will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers. The series premieres in May on the CBS network with all subsequent episodes available in the U.S. on CBS All Access. The series will be distributed concurrently by CBS Studios International on Netflix in 188 countries and in Canada on Bell Media’s Space Channel and CraveTV.
The series is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout, Bryan Fuller’s Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment. Kurtzman, Fuller, Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers.
