We’re getting the first extended look at Nashville Season 5, along with the news that CMT has slotted a sneak-peek premiere in December. The network will air the first hour of the two-hour season premiere on Thursday, December 15 at 9 PM, ahead of the full two-hour premiere on Thursday, January 5 at 9 PM at its new home on CMT. All episodes, including the sneak-peek, will also stream next day on Hulu.

Season 5 begins with Rayna (Connie Britton) and Deacon (Charles Esten) facing a new normal with Maddie (Lennon Stella) now back home and Highway 65 struggling financially. The shocking news about Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) creates a wave of emotions throughout Nashville and sets Rayna off on a journey of discovery.

Nashville is set against the backdrop of the city’s music scene and follows Rayna Jaymes and Juliette Barnes. Both face personal and professional challenges as they navigate their paths as artists and individuals. Surrounding them and often complicating their lives are their family, friends and, in some cases, lovers, as well as the up-and-coming performers and songwriters trying to get ahead in the business.
In addition to Britton, Esten, Panettiere and Stella, Nashville stars Clare Bowen as Scarlett O’Connor, Chris Carmack as Will Lexington, Jonathan Jackson as Avery Barkley, Sam Palladio as Gunnar Scott, and Maisy Stella as Daphne Conrad. The upcoming season also will feature Joseph David-Jones as Clay, Rhiannon Giddens as Hallie Jordan, Jen Richards as Allyson Del Lago, and Cameron Scoggins as Zach Welles in recurring roles.
