Playwright and TV writer Melanie Marnich (The Affair) has signed an overall deal with AMC. Under the pact, Marnich is working on two drama projects in development at the network.
One is Furniss, from Awake creator Kyle Killen, about a teenage orphan’s new life with her birth father and his family, complicated by her connection to secret supernatural events in their rural town. The other is Crater Lake, a life-affirming, character-driven show about death from Keshet and Gordin Cell creator Ron Leshem. This marks Marnich’s return to AMC where she worked as a supervising producer on Low Winter Sun.
Marnich, a playwright, first ventured into TV as a writer on the HBO drama series Big Love, earning a WGA nomination for her work. She most recently worked as co-executive producer on the first season of the upcoming Netflix drama The OA. She previously served in the same capacity on the Showtime series The Affair and also worked on the network’s The Big C. Marnich is repped by WME and Rise Management.
