The Broadway smash Hamilton with feature some new faces for the new year. Producer Jeffrey Seller said today that Saturday Night Live‘s Taran Killam will join the cast as King George next month, along with actors J. Quinton Johnson, Bryan Terrell Clark and Anthony Lee Medina. Also, Alysha Deslorieux will assume the dual role of Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds this Friday.
Killam will replace Rory O’Malley, whose last performance in the role will be January 15. The former SNL player has a bit of history with Hamilton, taking part in last January’s “Ham4Ham” — the free show for lottery hopefuls outside at Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre. Killam presented 12 things you didn’t know about Alexander Hamilton that aren’t covered in the Tony-winning show — with thanks (or apologies) to “The Twelve Days Of Christmas.”
Johnson (The Son) will make his Broadway debut January 6 in the dual role Hercules Mulligan/James Madison, taking over for original cast member Okieriete Onaodowan, who will give his final performance on Christmas Eve. Clark (Collateral Beauty) will assume the George Washington role on January 10, replacing Nicolas Chrisopher.
A veteran of Spring Awakening‘s first national tour, Medina’s Broadway debut as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton will come in March, sometime after the March 5 signoff of Jordan Fisher. Deslorieux (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) is replacing original cast member Jasmine Cephas, who took her final Hamilton bow last week
