“This is what Ms. Kelly had to say about Roger Ailes only one year ago on the Charlie Rose program,” said Susan Estrich on Thursday as supposed excerpts from Kelly’s heavily embargoed book Settle For More leaked out with descriptions of lewd behavior on Ailes’ part. “ ‘I really care about Roger. And he has been nothing but good to me. And he’s been very loyal. And he’s had my back. And he’s looked out for me,’ ” said Estrich, the ex-Michael Dukakis campaign manager. “Mr. Ailes denies her allegations of sexual harassment or misconduct of any kind.”
Tucker Carlson Gets Greta Van Susteren's Timeslot At Fox News Channel
This comes less than two-weeks before The Kelly File host’s “personal” book comes out and four months after Ailes was forced out at Fox News after an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment by Gretchen Carlson and others. In September, Fox settled the former Fox & Friends co-host’s July lawsuit against Ailes for $20 million.

Despite an initial pushback campaign by Ailes and allies against Carlson’s claims and lawsuit this summer, allegations of similar behavior Kelly revealed to investigators at the cable news network is widely believed to have led to the once all-powerful FNC boss’ ouster by Rupert Murdoch and his sons. Unlike several other FNC on-air talents, Kelly did not express support for Ailes when the first round of claims became public, nor after others came forward.
A central figure in this year’s Presidential campaign due to her repeated dust-ups with Donald Trump, Kelly’s contract at FNC is soon set to expire, though Murdoch has said publicly the channel is eager to keep her. Still, to show her range to potential new employers, Kelly will be co-hosting ABC’s Live With Kelly right after America decides whether Trump or Hillary Clinton will to be the next POTUS.
Having pocketed an advance of around $10 million from HarperCollins earlier this year, Kelly’s Settle For More comes out November 15 – reportedly with newly added material about Ailes’ conduct towards her over the years and Kelly’s feelings about the Carlson lawsuit.
FNC declined comment today on Ailes’ response or Kelly’s book.
