Courtney Love has signed on to the cast of Lifetime’s psychological thriller A Midsummer’s Nightmare, a modern-day take on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The hourlong scripted pilot started production October 31 in Vancouver.


Written by Anthony Jaswinski, the first season of the anthology series introduces four young lovers who steal off into the woods in pursuit of their romantic desires. Their plans are quickly thwarted when terrifying forces target the stranded group, using their own fantasies and darkest secrets against them. Love plays a mysterious woman in the woods who is part of the sinister forces that turn the lovers’ dream getaway into a nightmare. Dominic Monaghan, Daisy Head, Jake Robinson, Ellie Gall, Casey Deidrick, Eric Balfour, Chelsea Gilligan, Paul Walter Hauser, Rhys Ward, Thomas Cadrot and Anjali Jay also star.

Love, known for her starring role in The People vs. Larry Flynt, most recently recurred on Revenge, Empire and Sons of Anarchy. She’s repped by UTA.

A Midsummer’s Nightmare is an A+E Studios production. The Firm’s Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh Barry are executive producing. Jaswinski wrote the pilot and serves as co-executive producer. Gary Fleder will direct and executive produce the pilot.
