WME has hired well known TV talent agent Sean Grumman. The long-time CAA agent became available last week when he abruptly exited the agency. He met with multiple talent agencies, landing at WME.

It is unclear yet which actors will follow Grumman to WME. His list of clients at CAA, where he had been for more than a decade, have included Hayley Atwell, star of ABC’s Conviction and Marvel’s Agent Carter; Golden Globe-winner Ruth Wilson, star of Showtime’s The Affair; Milo Ventimiglia, star of NBC’s breakout new drama This Is Us; The Good Wife and Downton Abbey alum Matthew Goode; Sarah Shahi, Lee Pace, Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), Rosewood star Jaina Lee Ortiz, Tyler Labine, Daniel Henney (CSI: Beyond Border) and Dominique McElligott (House of Cards). The practice at CAA is for clients to be represented by teams and shared by multiple agents.

Grumman was let go from CAA last Tuesday when he was escorted out of the building. I hear his contract there was coming up and he had been exploring other opportunities, including at WME. The abrupt exit from CAA happened when the higher-ups found out about Grumman’s possible departure. It is considered standard agency practice when a high-level agent is in play and they may be headed to a competitor.
