“You touch my son, I’ll kill you,” promises Jamie Foxx’s Las Vegas homicide detective Vincent Downs in Open Road’s Sleepless. Downs’ teenage son has just been snatched by chief gangsta Rob Novak (Scott McNairy in a mean turn). What’s going down in this crime thriller by director Baran bo Odar? Vincent is a crooked cop. He’s stolen something belonging to Novak, and the crime lord is holding Downs’ son in exchange. Downs has one night to take matters into his own hands. However, Downs has to evade an internal affairs investigation led by Michelle Monaghan’s officer. Pic, written by Andrea Berloff, also stars Dermot Mulroney, Gabrielle Union, David Harbour, Tip ‘T.I.’ Harris, and Octavius J. Johnson. Roy Lee and Adam Stone are producers. Sleepless wakes up in theaters on Feb. 24. Open Road had another crooked cop caper in the same slot last February: John Hillcoat’s Triple 9 which debuted to $6.1M and ended its run at $12.6M.
