Simon Cowell will continue his onscreen presence of his reality series America’s Got Talent for at least three more years. The creator of the Got Talent format has signed a new deal with NBC to remain a judge of the hit summer series through 2019. He’ll also continue his role as executive producer.
Cowell, who made his onscreen debut on AGT this past season, already had been announced as a judge for the recently picked up 12th season of the long-running talent competition series, alongside fellow returning judges Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel as well as host Nick Cannon. The new deal locks Cowell as on-air talent for two more seasons beyond that. It is believed to include standard exclusivity clauses for Cowell’s US network onscreen services.

“It was terrific to see Simon in his judge’s chair this past season, bringing his unique expertise and enthusiasm to the show, night after night,” said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Reality Group, NBC Entertainment. “His brilliance has made AGT the industry leader that it is today and his ability to evaluate and spot talent is unmatched, so we couldn’t be happier to have him seated at the judge’s table for the next three years.”
American’s Got Talent has ranked as TV’s No. 1 most-watched summer alternative series for each of its 11 seasons on the air. This year, it also ranked No.1 among all summer series in adults 18-49 and total viewers, logging highest adult 18-49 average in three years (3.0) and most-watched season in five years (13.5 million).
“America’s Got Talent is a fantastic and – most importantly – fun show both to work on and to watch,” said Cowell. “NBC have been brilliant partners and the entire team who make this show are one of the best in the world. I’ve loved this past season and look forward to discovering more great talent together in the years to come.”
Cowell’s Syco Entertainment, a joint venture between Cowell and Sony Music, has the global franchises The X Factor and Got Talent, both of which are co-produced by FremantleMedia. Syco’s music artists include One Direction, Fifth Harmony, Little Mix, Susan Boyle, Il Divo, Labrinth and Ella Henderson and now AGT’s season 11 winner Grace Vanderwall.
Cowell is repped by WME and Ziffren Brittenham. His deal was brokered by WME’s Ari Emanuel.
America’s Got Talent is co-produced and co-owned by Simon Cowell/Syco Entertainment and FremantleMedia North America. Simon Cowell, Sam Donnelly, Jason Raff, Trish Kinane and Richard Wallace are the executive producers.
