The Daredevil spinoff The Punisher will see another veteran of the Netflix Marvel universe joining its first season, it was officially announced today at New York Comic-Con. Deborah Ann Woll, AKA former Murdock & Nelson secretary Karen Page, walked on-stage after Jon Bernthal, AKA Frank Castle/The Punisher, to say she would be crossing over to the upcoming show.

Woll’s appearance on the series had been somewhat revealed inadvertently several days ago, when fans living near the New York City shoot snapped a picture of her interacting with Bernthal in Punisher garb – but nothing was acknowledged by the secretive Marvel.

The two characters had a particularly strongly crafted connection during the events of Daredevil season 2, where Page emerged as Frank Castle’s biggest advocate mid-way through the season. She was instrumental in his final arc during the season, as Castle saved her life as the season wound down by killing his former commanding officer, who had kidnapped her.

The show left things ambiguous between them with Page disappointed that he decided to commit fully to his bloody war against crime, and appeared to tell him their friendship, such as it was, had to end. But it seems that may not have been a permanent schism, as she looks to have a prominent role in the upcoming show.

Production on Punisher has just started and Marvel and Netflix haven’t said anything yet about a launch date.

As for NY Comic-Con, it still has one more day to go.
