Two and a Half Men alumna Marin Hinkle will co-star opposite Rachel Brosnahan, Tony Shalhoub and Michael Zegen in Amy Sherman-Palladino’s Amazon dramedy pilot The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Set in the 1950s, the project centers on Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Brosnahan), who had her life mapped out for herself: go to college, find a husband, have 2.5 kids and throw the best Yom Kippur dinners in her elegant Manhattan apartment. But when her life takes an unexpected turn, Midge will have to decide quickly what else she’s good at. Going from uptown housewife to a stand-up comic in a grungy club in the Village is an appalling choice to everyone but Midge.
Hinkle will play Rose Weissman, Abe’s (Shalhoub) wife and Midge’s (Brosnahan) mother. Lovely, elegant, and dramatic, Rose is very much about appearances. She firmly believes everything’s easier if you’re pretty.
Sherman-Palladino wrote the script and executive produces with Dan Palladino.
Hinkle, best known for her role as Judith, Alan’s (Jon Cryer) ex-wife in CBS’ hit Two and a Half Men, currently recurs as Dr. Miller on ABC’s Speechless. She’s repped by Innovative Artists and managed by Framework Entertainment.
