As Jack Reacher: Never Go Back is heading to theaters, Lee Child, on whose novel the movie is based, is heading to television.

NBC has given a script commitment with significant penalty to Last Hope, a drama from Child, former CSI executive producer Andrew Dettmann, EuropaCorp Television and Universal TV.

In his first foray into television, best-selling author Child has co-created Last Hope with Dettmann. Written by Dettmann, the project centers on Hope Wesson, a highly trained but disenfranchised former military police investigator who leads a team of fallen heroes who get justice for people with nowhere else to turn.

Child and Dettmann executive produce alongside EuropaCorp TV’s Matt Gross, who oversees U.S. operations, and Thomas Anargyros.

Last Hope reunites Dettmann and Gross. Dettmann was a co-executive producer on the ABC crime procedural Body of Proof, which Gross executive produced. In addition to his three-season stint on CSI. Dettmann worked on CBS’ crime drama Numbers for its entire run, rising to executive producer. He is repped by Rothman Brecher and attorney Jonathan Shikora.
