Hurricane Matthew hasn’t hit Florida yet, but it’s already taking a toll on filming activity there. SAG-AFTRA closed its Miami office today for the rest of the week, and the Miami-Dade County Office of Film and Entertainment announced that it is “rescinding all active film/photo permits until after Tuesday, October 11th. We will re-access the situation and infrastructure at that time and notify all active film/photo permit holders.”
“Please do not report to your location if you have an active film/photo permit until further notice,” the Miami Film Office said. “The weather may create conditions that are too dangerous to utilize your film/photo permit on public property. Also, the park or facility you want to use may be closed due to weather. The airport, seaport and transit will not operate if wind conditions exceed 39 miles per hour.”
Said SAG-AFTRA: “Due to extreme weather conditions in the South Florida area as a result of Hurricane Matthew the SAG-AFTRA Miami Local office will close today, at 3 p.m. EDT and be closed all day Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
