First Run Features has picked up rights to Garrett Zevgetis’ documentary Best and Most Beautiful Things, a coming-of-age story that celebrates outcasts of the world. First Run is eyeing a December theatrical release for the film, which is produced by Zevgetis, Ariana Garfinkel, Jeff Consiglio and Jordan Salvatoriello. The documentary premiered at SXSW in March and has seen a successful festival run across the country.
Best and Most Beautiful Thing follows Michelle, a precocious young blind woman who disappears into quirky obsessions and isolation. She’s excited about getting a job, but then is fired and spends the next year in her bedroom. With humor and bold curiosity, she chases love and freedom in the most unexpected of places: a provocative, sex-positive fringe community. “I want to experience all aspects of life,” Michelle says. “I want to live on my own.”
Preferred Content represents the filmmakers in the deal. Kevin S. Bright and Claudia Bright are the executive producers. Watch the trailer above.
