The project follows a successful blogger who develops a theory which encourages her female followers to break up with men after six months to avoid heartache. However, her philosophy on relationships is questioned when she meets an attorney who challenges her to a competition to prove her theory wrong. The romantic comedy marks Birch’s first foray into the genre.
Producing with Birch will be Kelsey Tucker and Jasmine Fontes. The project is in pre-production and set to go before the cameras on Sept. 18th in the Portland, Ore. aread. “It’s a very funny, heartwarming, romantic comedy set in the Pacific Northwest,” said Lowry. “We are very excited to have Thora Birch and other very talented actors on this film.”
This is Birch’s fourth feature this year since resuming her acting career. She recently joined with her Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger director Phillip Noyce in his Above Suspicion with Jack Huston and Emilia Clarke and also wrapped production on The Etruscan Smile. She has also signed on to star in the political thriller Public Affairs. In addition to her film work, she also had a recurring role on the first season of the USA network series Colony.
Birch, who is probably best known for Ghost World and American Beauty, is repped by Berwick & Kovacik and Greenberg, Glusker, Fields, Claman & Machtinger. Lowry (Union Bound, Next Best Bartender) is repped by The Pitt Group.
