UPDATED: Kino Lorber will release Eugene Green’s Son of Joseph on January 13 in U.S. theaters.
PREVIOUS EXCLUSIVE, September 26: Kino Lorber has acquired North American rights to Son of Joseph, French writer-director Eugène Green’s rebooted nativity story that is having its North American premiere at the upcoming New York Film Festival. A January release is planned for the pic that world premiered this year at Berlin.
Kino Lorber also teamed with Green to release his 2014 drama La Sapienza.
In Son of Joseph, newcomer Victor Ezenfis stars as a discontented Parisian teenager in search of a father. Mathieu Amalric and La Sapienza star Fabrizio Rongione play his callous and gentle, respectively, alternative paternal options, and Natacha Régnier is his single mother in the pic that takes on French cultural pretensions. Maria de Medeiros co-stars. Francine and Didier Jacob produced and Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne are co-producers.
The pic screens October 9 at the Bruno Walter Auditorium as part of the New York Film Festival.
Kino Lorber CEO Richard Lorber and Les Films du Losange head of sales Bérénice Vincent made the deal.
