Fox Television Group chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman are centralizing the company’s casting operations. Sharon Klein, the longtime head of casting for studio 20th Century Fox TV, has been promoted to EVP Casting for Fox TV Group where she’ll head up casting for Fox Broadcasting Company in addition to her current responsibilities at 20th Century Fox TV and its cable division Fox 21 Television Studios. Meanwhile, Fox’s head of casting Tess Sanchez has been upped to EVP Fox Broadcasting Co., reporting to Klein. The promotions are effective immediately.
“We wanted to approach the casting of our shows from a single, unified perspective so that all our FTG divisions are reaping the benefits of our extraordinary casting teams, and there is no better person to lead our efforts than Sharon, whom we have deeply relied upon at the studio for over fifteen years,” Walden and Newma said. “She is incredibly talented, enormously creative and beloved by showrunners, performers and executives alike.”

Added Newman and Walden, “Tess a spectacular executive and will continue to be an invaluable partner to Sharon as we identify and attract the best acting talent to this company.”
An Emmy-winning casting director, veteran Klein has led 20th Century Fox TV’s casting team for more than fifteen years, assembling the ensembles of projects like Empire, This is Us, The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Modern Family, Glee, How I Met Your Mother, New Girl, and Homeland, among dozens of other series.
Prior to joining the studio, Klein served as an independent casting director and won an Emmy for casting the HBO miniseries From the Earth to the Moon. She also helped cast The Education of Max Bixford, starring Richard Dreyfus and Marcia Gay Harden, Significant Others with Michael Weatherly and Jennifer Garner, and Cupid starring Jeremy Piven.
Sanchez joined Fox in 2009 and was named head the casting two years later , becoming one of the youngest executives to lead the casting department of a major network. She has overseen castings for Grease Live! as well as such series as Empire, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Gotham, Last Man On Earth and The Mindy Project. Prior to joining Fox, Sanchez was an independent casting director. She also worked at the WB as VP of Talent and Casting for eight years and helped discover the talent for such shows as Felicity, Dawson’s Creek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville and Supernatural.
