NBC News today celebrated 52-week first-place finishes in the programming genre’s key ad sales demo, 25-54, for franchises across the network’s landscape including Today, NBC Nightly News, Sunday Beltway show Meet the Press and Dateline.
As has become tradition among TV news operations, the talking points were released to the press via “memo to staff.” This one is from NBC News president Deborah Turness:
Today is a very proud day for all of us at NBC News. As final ratings are announced for the 2015-16 broadcast year, I am pleased to share that ALL four of our broadcasts, TODAY, Nightly News, Meet the Press and Dateline, are #1 in the most valuable measurement in news – the 25-54 demographic. The last time that happened was the 2010-11 season. All four shows are also #1 in the 18-49 demographic, and Nightly News is #1 in total viewers, completing a most impressive clean sweep across the board for the broadcast.
This success is the result of a spectacular team effort. Together we have focused on high-quality journalism, enterprise reporting, exclusive interviews and adventurous storytelling. And the power of NBC News means that we are able to work together across all our shows and platforms, our digital and social channels, combined with our including our ever-closer relationship with MSNBC, to promote and amplify all of that great content.
