Similar to last year’s Mr. Robot Season 1 finale, creator Sam Esmail leaves us with an epilogue cliffhanger which points us in the direction of next season. A year ago, we learned from the finale’s coda that rival hack group Dark Army leader Whiterose (B.D. Wong) was in bed with E Corp as she arrived in men’s clothing to a meeting with the company’s new chief Phillip Price (Michael Cristofer).
Instead of a limo, which cruised toward a mansion in last year’s final moments, here we see a Cadillac slowly creep through Fry’s Electronics parking lot (is that the Burbank location? No, it’s the Phoenix location). We see fsociety hackers Mobley (Azhar Khan) and Trenton (Sunita Mani) who look as though they’re in witness protection clad in store clerk uniforms. Trenton isn’t even wearing her hijab.
“If what I discovered is real, do you know what that means?,” she tells Mobley, “It means we could potentially undo this whole thing; put everything the way it was.” Does she mean reversing the big 5/9 hack which shook down the evil conglom E Corp and sent the nation into a recession? Not if Whiterose has anything to say about it. How’s that? Leon (Joey Bada$$) appears. And if you remember from “eps2.5_h4ndshake.sme”, Leon is a Dark Army disciple.
USA Network has not set any airdates yet for Mr. Robot 3.0, but the writers room will convene soon.
