EXCLUSIVE: Here is a clip from the coming-of-age drama Milton’s Secret, a film based on the YA novel from bestselling author and spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle and Robert Friedman. This marks the first book-to-film adaptation for a Tolle book. The man the New York Times calls “the most popular spiritual author in the United States” also has a strong following among Hollywood execs, so it might not be the last.
Barnet Bain directed the pic, which he penned with Donald Martin and Sara B. Cooper. Donald Sutherland, Michelle Rodriguez, Mia Kirshner, David Sutcliffe, and William Ainscough star. Entertainment One label Momentum Pictures will release it September 30 in theaters and on VOD.
The film follows Milton (Ainscough), a 12 year-old growing up in an economically and socially unpredictable world. His mother and father (Kirshner, Sutcliffe) are workaholics with marital and financial problems, and he is bullied at school. When his grandfather (Sutherland) visits, Milton learns rehashing the past and worrying about the future are preventing him from finding true happiness.
Sean Buckley, Fred Fuchs, Ryan Lockwood and Stephen Hussar are producers.
