EXCLUSIVE: MarVista Entertainment and SpectreVision have set indie genre-blending drama Bitch, starring Hart Of Dixie‘s Jaime King and Jason Ritter (Parenthood), as the first film under their four-picture financing and co-production deal. Written, directed, and co-starring Marianna Palka (Good Dick), Bitch, which recently wrapped production, is a provocative tale of a woman (Palka) who snaps under crushing life pressures and assumes the psyche of a vicious dog. Her philandering, absentee husband (Ritter) is forced to become reacquainted with his four children and sister-in-law (King) as they attempt to keep the family together during this bizarre crisis.
Caroline Aaron (Hello, My Name Is Doris), Bill Smitrovich (The Last Ship), Martin Starr (Silicon Valley), Arielle Kebbel (Ballers), Eric Edelstein (Green Room), Brighton Sharbino (Miracles From Heaven), Rio Mangini (Bella and The Bulldogs), Jason Maybaum (The Perfect Stanleys) and Kingston Foster (Fuller House) are also part of the cast. SpectreVision’s Josh C. Waller, Daniel Noah and Elijah Wood produce, along with MarVista’s Mike Moran. MarVista’s Fernando Szew and Hannah Pillemer serve as executive producers.
The film marks the reunion of Palka and Ritter, who starred together in Palka’s 2008 Sundance film Good Dick. Ritter and Palka have also appeared on HBO’s Girls on separate occasions. On the film side, Ritter recently appeared in Sony Pictures Classics’ The Meddler opposite Susan Sarandon and Rose Bryne. In addition to her four seasons on Hart of Dixie, King had a role in Michael Bay’s blockbuster Pearl Harbor and Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City and its sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. She is repped by Gersh, WME and Oren Segal for management and Bob Myman of Myman Greenspan for legal.
