James Le Gros (Drugstore Cowboy, Lovely And Amazing, Showtime’s Billions) will play the alcoholic father of angry young Nolan Lyons (Boardwalk Empire) in Buck Run, set to begin filming in late October in central Pennsylvania. First-timers Nick Frangione and David Hauslein (director and writer, respectively) are making the film for Tomorrowland Production Company and Intuition Film Productions.
Also cast are veterans Kevin J. O’Connor, Amy Hargreaves, Jim Parrack and Angus Macfadyen. Story centers on teen Shaw Templeton (Lyons) forced to reunite with his estranged father (Le Gros) following the death of his mother (Hargreaves).
Buck Run is produced by Nancy Degnan, Julio Lopez Velasquez, Allison Vanore and Nick Frangione. Executive Producers are Julio Lopez Velasquez, Harley Kaplan and Brandon Powers.
“This is a dream cast of actors with work I admire, performances that have stuck with me and audiences everywhere long after the credits rolled on a number of legendary films,” says Frangione. “I lost my mother to cancer at age 17 during a cold, Pennsylvania winter, so I know Shaw’s story all too well, and I couldn’t possibly imagine a better cast to bring this film to life.”
