Jack Kilmer has booked passage on the indie comedy Captain Dad, from writer-director Sebastian Silva. Will Ferrell stars Rich, who buys a catamaran cruise around the Caribbean for his wife (Catherine Keener) and invites their children and their spouses to come along. Rich captains the boat, and the tension and hostility among the family members comes out quickly. When somebody unseen pushes Rich off the boat, he must uncover the culprit. Michael Cera also stars. Kilmer will play Oliver in the pic, which starts lensing this month. His credits include The Nice Guys, The Spoils Before Dying and Palo Alto.
Bruce Dern, Judy Greer, Matthias Schoenaerts and Iain Armitage have joined the cast of Netflix’s original film Our Souls at Night. Robert Redford and Jane Fonda are re-teaming for the first time since 1979’s The Electric Horseman to play Louis and Addie, longtime neighbors in a small Colorado town whose spouses have died and children have moved away, leaving both alone in their big houses. She seeks to establish a connection and make the most of the rest of the time they have. No details on the roles for Dern, Greer, Schoenaerts and Armitage. Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the scripting team behind The Fault in Our Stars, wrote the screenplay adapted from Kent Haruf’s novel.
