Director/co-writer’s Katell Quillévéré’s feature drama Heal the Living was just acquired in Toronto by Cohen Media Group for a Spring 2017 release. The film, which just had its North American premiere at the film festival, is based on Maylis de Kerangal’s Booker Prize-longlisted novel “Réparer les vivants (Mend the Living).”
The story follows three seemingly unrelated stories and weaves them together: A French teenager takes a road trip to the sea with friends to go surfing; in another town, a woman learns her heart is failing; and at a regional hospital, the staff struggles through another day of saving lives. Emmanuelle Seigner (Venus in Fur, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly), Tahar Rahim (Grand Central, The Informant) and Anne Dorval (Mommy, Heartbeats) star in the film.
The agreement was negotiated by Cohen Media Group Senior Vice President John Kochman and Nicolas Brigaud-Robert, partner in the international sales company Films Distribution.
