‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘HTGAWM’ & ‘Blacklist’ Lead Thursday Live+3 Ratings Gains

ABC veteran Grey’s Anatomy, already the highest-rated and most watched entertainment program on Premiere Thursday in Live+same day, also posted big Live+3 demo gains — 1.1 adults 18-49 and 2.8 million viewers — to solidify its position as the top series on Thursday (at least until CBS’ The Big Bang Theory returns to the night following the end of Thursday Night Football.)

Grey’s Anatomy rose to a 3.6 in adults 18-49 and 11.6 million viewers in L3. It shared the bragging rights for the largest absolute demo lift with fellow Thursday Shondaland drama How to Get Away With Murder, which also grew by 1.1 in the demo and close to 3 million total viewers to post the highest percentage lift of the night, up 79% in 18-49. The biggest total viewership gain (absolute and %) went to NBC’s The Blacklist, up 4.2 million viewers, or 65%.

There wasn’t much great news for newbies Notorious and Pitch, which had tepid debuts, each logging a 1.1 18-49 Live+same day rating. Both added an OK but not great 0.5 demo rating in 18-49 to go up to a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating in L3 for a soft overall start. While Notorious had a great time slot — nestled between Grey’s and HTGAWM — Pitch had an excuse: It had a terrible lead-in from Rosewood. Fox’s sophomore drama continues to look like a goner, adding 0.3 for a paltry L3 tally of 1.0 18-49 rating.

NBC’s The Good Place kept its L3 demo gains north of 40% to match the L3 delivery of lead-in Superstore (both at a 2.0 L3 demo rating). Still, that was well below the 3.6 L3 demo rating for The Good Place‘s post-Voice debut from 10-10:30 PM.
