Film Movement Goes For ‘Glory’ — Toronto

Deal-making in Toronto may be moving slowly but that hasn’t stopped New York-based speciality distributor Film Movement, which has picked up US and English-speaking Canadian rights to Bulgarian tragicomedy Glory.

The film, which is directed by The Lesson filmmakers Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov, is described as a modern-day morality tale about a railway linesman who discovers a small fortune on the railroad tracks but doesn’t feel he is adequately rewarded after he returns the money. Stefan Denolyubov and Margita Gosheva star in the title, which premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival last month.

Film Movement, which released the The Lesson last year, is planning an early 2017 theatrical release for Glory.

Michael E. Rosenberg, president of Film Movement, negotiated the deal in Toronto with Diane Ferrandez, head of international sales at Wide Management.

“With Glory, we continue to watch the artistic talents of Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov evolve as they turn their keen sensibilities to yet another fascinating story of morals,” said Rosenberg in a statement.
