Chinese technology and internet giant LeEco today said it has acquired Dichotomy Creative Group, the company founded by former Paramount Film Group President Adam Goodman. The exec launched Dichotomy last year after he was fired from Paramount because the studio didn’t make enough movies.
He will now oversee LeEco’s new subsidiary Le Vision Entertainment and report to LeEco Vice Chairman Zhang Zhao. As president of Le Vision Entertainment (or LeVE, as it will be known) Goodman will be responsible for English-language original entertainment content for LeEco’s next-generation audiences across a diverse range of distribution platforms around the world.
Under his leadership, LeVE will employ a similar filmmaking strategy to Dichotomy’s stated aim of disrupting traditional production by allowing filmmakers to iterate their storytelling in an approach that more closely resembles the animation process. The plan is to produce tentpoles for global audiences as well as micro-budget pics.
The company says it will aggressively pursue and acquire new IP and will be in a position to fully finance and co-produce movies in partnership with studios on appropriate distribution, slate financing and/or co-financing opportunities.
LeEco also backs Le Vision Pictures founded by Zhang who is currently in production on Zhang Yimou’s The Great Wall with Legendary East and Universal Pictures.
