EXCLUSIVE: Entertainment 360, the production arm of Management 360, is mounting a movie about the inspiring work done by Benedictine monk Edwin Leahy to remake the 100-year old St. Benedict’s Prep into an educational haven for inner city and largely minority kids in Newark, New Jersey. The producers were inspired by the 60 Minutes segment reported by Scott Pelley that aired in March titled The Resurrection of St. Benedict’s, which described how the prep school is giving these kids a fighting chance in the world. The school was in danger of closing down as Newark fell into economic disrepair, but Leahy, a former student himself, refused to throw in the towel. The school’s methods are unorthodox in that student leaders are the ones who keep their classmates in line, and away from the temptations of the streets all around them. The all-boys school teaches grades seven through 12, and the makeup is 50% African American and one-third Hispanic. Their accomplishments in the classroom and on the athletic field are laudable. Entertainment 360 is looking for writers and to put together a package for a film or a cable series.
