One of Bollywood’s biggest stars, Kapoor been nominated for four Filmfare awards, the Hindi film industry’s top awards. She made waves this year playing the title role in the biopic Neerja, which tells the story of flight attendant Neerja Bhanot, who gave her life to save hundreds of passengers during the hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in 1986. The critical and financial hit is one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films with a female lead, earning more than $20 million worldwide.

Kapoor, the daughter of Indian acting icon Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire), also starred in the 2015 romantic comedy Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which brought in more than $50 million internationally, and the Disney India film Khoobsurat, in which she played the studio’s first Indian princess. Next up for her is Shashank Ghosh’s Veere De Wedding and an upcoming adaptation of the Anuja Chauhan comic romance novel Battle for Bittora.
Kapoor wields far-reaching influence on social media with a combined nearly 30 million followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. She recently became the first Bollywood star to launch her own app, and is prepping a fashion line with her sister Rhea. She’s currently the face of the Indian campaigns for L’Oreal Paris, Colgate and Snickers among others.
