Ubisoft Motion Pictures confirmed today that Jessica Chastain has joined the cast of The Division, based on the Tom Clancy video game. Jake Gyllenhaal is already attached, and the pair’s production companies will co-develop the pic with Ubisoft. The Division, a third-person action role player game, sold more copies in its March launch in the first 24 hours than any game in Ubisoft history.
Jessica McNamee (Sirens) has been tapped to join Warner Bros’ shark movie Meg, which Jon Turtletaub will helm. She joins Jason Statham and Fan Bingbing in the cast of the pic, which was given a March 2, 2018 release date. It’s based on Steve Alten’s novel about a former Naval deep sea diver who joins Chinese scientists in an underwater observation program to face off against a living Megalodon – an extinct species of shark believed to reach up to 60 feet in length. Variety had this story first today.
