Fox has picked up Beat Shazam, a new interactive musical game show, based on the popular Shazam app, from The Voice executive producer Mark Burnett, Don’t Forget the Lyrics creator Jeff Apploff and Shazam Entertainment Limited. The series was announced by Fox TV Group chairman Dana Walden at TCA.
The competition show features teams who attempt to identify a song, Fox entertainment president David Madden said. The winning team then has to compete with Shazam for the top prize.
No launch date has been set.
The Shazam app for Macs, PCs and smartphones is known for its music-identification capabilities that has expanded to integrations with cinema, advertising, TV and retail,
Shazam Entertainment Limited was founded in 1999 by Chris Barton, Philip Inghelbrecht, Avery Wang and Dhiraj Mukherjee.
