Discovery has greenlighted Taking Fire (wt), a five-part docuseries about the soldiers of the U.S. Army’s renowned 101st Airborne Division. Discovery Channel will air one episode per week beginning Monday, September 12.
The series, produced by Raw TV, is described as a character-driven serial that takes viewers into the hearts and minds of the soldiers during a yearlong deployment at a base in northeast Afghanistan at the mouth of the Taliban-held Korengal Valley.
The story shows the impact of war on the men, told by those who fought on the front lines, illustrated with real combat footage shot on helmet cameras and handy cams.
“Taking Fire offers our viewer an experience truly unlike anything they have seen anywhere before,” said Rich Ross, President of Discovery. “This is a visceral and literal peek behind a curtain that few of us will ever see again.”
Dimitri Doganis, Louise Norman, Dan Gold and Rebecca North executive produce for Raw TV. Denise Contis, Matthew Kelly and Joseph Schneier serve as executive producers for Discovery Channel.
