Emmy winner Carrie Preston (The Good Wife, True Blood) is set to co-star opposite Niecy Nash and Karrueche Tran in TNT’s pilot Claws, an hourlong scripted dramedy set in a South Florida nail salon, from Rashida Jones and Will McCormack’s Le Train Train and Warner Horizon.
Written and co-executive produced by Eliot Laurence (Welcome to Me), Claws is said to be in the vein of Desperate Housewives. It follows the lives of five diverse and treacherous Florida manicurists. It soon becomes clear there is a lot more going on at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon than silk wraps and pedicures.
Preston will play Polly, a mild-mannered preppy who works as a manicurist at the nail salon. Polly has recently been released from prison, where she did time for identity theft on seniors.
Janine Sherman Barrois is executive producer/showrunner of the pilot, Nicole Kassell will direct.
Preston is known for her recurring role on The Good Wife, which earned her an Emmy Award in 2013. She is nominated again this year for the CBS drama’s final season. The casting in Claws rules out Preston, who just became available after starring in the short-lived NBC comedy series Crowded, for a series regular role the upcoming Good Wife spinoff on CBS All Access.
Next up, True Blood alumna Preston will appear in the ABC miniseries When We Rise and feature To the Bone. She is repped by Innovative Artists and Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management.
