Starz continues to take care of business while it waits to be bought by Lionsgate: Today it announced that former AMC Networks distribution chief Joe Glennon will now handle similar chores for the premium network company.
Based in New York, he picks up responsibilities previously held by Michael Thornton, who left last month as Chief Revenue Officer and EVP but will remain as a consultant through this fall. Starz said at the time that it would not name a new Chief Revenue Officer.
Glennon will oversee all of network sales to U.S. distributors for the core Starz premium pay TV businesses. He’ll report to COO Jeffrey Hirsch who was promoted to his job last month.
Glennon’s “wealth of pay TV sales experience” will be “invaluable as we look to secure future opportunities for growing our core business in partnership with [cable and satellite distributors] and new, emerging digital platforms,” Hirsch says.
Glennon had been EVP of Distribution at AMC Networks, handling distribution deals for AMC, WEtv, IFC, Sundance Channel, Fuse and IFC Films. Earlier he worked at Fuse and Discovery.
