At Fox’s Scream Queens Comic-Con panel, co-creator Ian Brennan announced that Saturday Night Live‘s Cecily Strong will be guest starring in Season 2 of the horror comedy, which is set in a hospital. Strong will play a patient at the facility. She is on the big screen this summer in Sony’s Ghostbusters.
The news follows today’s headline from EW that Colton Haynes (Arrow) will play a mysterious role.
That was the big news coming out of today’s sesh. Outside of that, the cast elaborated slightly on what has already been reported. John Stamos, who’s also joining this season as the head surgeon Dr. Brock Holt, revealed that he has the first hand transplant — and that hand could have come from a brilliant person or a monstrous one. In addition, we don’t know exactly why Jamie Lee Curtis’ Cathy Munsch decided to buy a hospital, which will handle the most challenging medical cases.
Emma Roberts who plays Chanel Oberlin, said, “The Chanels (post-prison) are trying to remain glamorous despite the fact that they’re broke and have to work.” The gals are released from prison and become medical students at the new hospital.
As far as the red devil reprising his role, Brennan said, “It’s a different killer.” Added Curtis, “It’s a different color”.
Lea Michele, who plays Hester, teased, “My costume is comfortable” versus the brace she had to wear last season, and “I have a fun new accessory to play with.”
Billie Lourd, who plays Chanel #3, was elbowed by the moderator as to whether her mother Carrie Fisher might guest-star. “She’s available,” said the actress.
What we knew before walking into Ballroom 20 session of Scream Queens is the following: Zayday (Keke Palmer) is one of Munsch’s brilliant medical students at the hospital. The Chanels (Lourd, Emma Roberts and Abigail Breslin) are convicts-turned-medical students and working there too. Alongside Stamos’ head surgeon is Taylor Lautner, who is also portraying a doctor. Denise (Niecy Nash) has joined the FBI. Glenn Powell, who plays the infamous womanizer Chad Radwell, is also set to return. Michele’s Hester is intimately involved with a murder at the hospital. Also joining in Season 2: James Earl as Candy Striper.
Scream Queens returns September 20 on Fox.
